Swachh Swad is a private initiative committed to enhancing food safety in the unorganized street food sector. Though not affiliated with the Government of India or any statutory body, Swachh Swad aligns its hygiene practices with publicly accessible standards issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), particularly those detailed in IS 16066:2012 – Food Safety Requirements for Street Food Vendors.

Implementation through Voluntary Certification

To operationalize these practices, Swachh Swad provides:

• Swachh Swad Hygiene Kits, facilitating adherence to hygiene protocols,

• Voluntary certification, enabled through a QR code system that allows real-time consumer verification,

• Training and awareness modules based on BIS public guidelines, aimed at empowering vendors.

This framework is voluntary, non-governmental, and intended solely to promote safer street food environments through practical solutions inspired by BIS’s publicly available content.

• Verifies the vendor’s participation in Swachh Swad’s hygiene program.
